Hey Sean Busby, my name is Nicholas Thomas and I am also a type 1 diabetic. I am inspired by what you do and I have been snowboarding my whole life. Never at a professional or competitive level, but definitely the only obsession in my life. I am really stoked on what you do and I have always felt that I would love to do the same. I was wondering if there would be anyway a guy like me could get involved not only to support others with their struggles but also so I can find support with my own. I am a young smart educated gentleman who is passionate about this sport and everything that involves it. If there is anything I can personally do to help out with your cause I would be very interested in doing so. Thanks so much for everything you are doing because it is crucial.

Diabetes isn't your biggest problem its your attitude; Love life.

Hi Ed,
Thanks for your post! Unfortunately, Sean will be quite busy preparing for our camp while in the Mass. area... can you get Joseph signed up for camp next year? Sean would love to meet him... his schedule just gets pretty hectic while traveling! Let me know,

Dear Sean:

My 10 year old son Joseph is a Type 1 Diabetic. He was diagnosed at age 3. He went skiing for the first time this past weekend in Waterville Valley, NH and just loved it. He now has a passion for skiing. He also plays hockey, soccer, participates in 5K road races, and loves to cycle. Perhpas we can meet if you are in the Boston area?

Sincerely,

Ed Moffitt

I think it would be great to have a camp specifically for those kids that are 12 and up. My son is almost 12 and was diagnosed at age 4 so he really doesn't remember not having diabetes but it doesn't seem to make it any easier. He goes through days where he just wants to hide and he feel so different. We had to go off the pump as all he would do would hide it. If anyone asked about what his pump was, it put him in a tailspin. I know he would love to be around other kids his age with Type 1. We are apart of a few support groups here in the Chicago suburbs but most of them are little girls (4yr-8yr) so he is having a hard time relating. He needs someone to understand and also someone to look up to - to show him he can still succeed. Would love more camps in WI as the one in Dec was full by the time we found out about it. Thanks for the awareness!!
