I’m posting today to inform you that we will be RESCHEDULING our Riding On Insulin-Northwest camp for a later date in December 2011. We came to this decision for a multitude of reasons, namely the timing. The weekend we picked on June 4th also happens to be the same date of graduation for many schools, the same date as an American Diabetes Association event in Seattle, the date of an event at a local diabetes camp, the same date as a diabetes pump company’s nationwide conference, and the date of a conference for many endocrinologists in Portland. You think the universe was trying to tell us something?!

This does NOT mean we will cancel it all together. We are hoping to RESCHEDULE THE CAMP FOR DECEMBER 3RD, 2011. The interest and support in the Portland/Seattle area has been momentous! We are moving forward with this date, pending nothing huge is happening that weekend which will compete with our event

This first season has absolutely been a learning experience for our organization, and we’re thrilled to announce plans are already underway for camps this summer in New Zealand and Australia and for the 2011-2012 season, which will kick off with the Northwest camp on December 3rd at Timberline Lodge!

It’s people like you, who believe in our mission just as much as we do that will help Riding On Insulin thrive for many years to come!

Riding On Insulin currently does not keep any of the money we raise to put on our ski/snowboard camps—instead, any proceeds are donated to organizations such as the local JDRF chapter. We love nothing more than contributing much-needed funds to organizations that are advancing diabetes research and/or helping kids and families with diabetes live their lives to the fullest.

But today, it’s Riding On Insulin that needs the money to become official—and YOU can help.

We are asking you to donate whatever amount you feel comfortable to further the mission of Riding On Insulin. Do you believe in the power of getting kids on the mountain to try a new winter sport and learn to manage their diabetes? Have you or someone you know been positively affected by our organization?
